Registering adds one sample to a batch and gives it the next ID. Open the batch and tap Register: the ID on the button is the one the sample will get. Each tap adds one sample, and an Undo link appears for a moment in case of a slip. Samples are unlimited on every plan.
In this guide you will learn how to:
- Register a sample in one tap
- Read the ID on the button
- Undo a registration
- Register with a location or a note

Before you start

- Samples are registered inside a batch.
How to register a sample
One tap registers one sample.
Open the batch. The Register button at the bottom of the screen names the ID the next sample will get, for example Register S-029.
Tap Register. The sample is added at once, and a message says S-029 registered, with Undo.
The sample appears in the batch’s list, marked Registered. The button now offers the next ID, S-030. Tap it again for each tube you have.
Register with a location or a note
Tap the small arrow beside Register and choose Register with details…. A Register sample sheet opens. Its button names the ID, for example Register S-030.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Location | Optional. Places you used recently are there to tap instead of typing. |
| Notes | Optional. |
How do IDs work?
- IDs are assigned in order.
- If you register a tube by mistake, you can remove it and its number is offered again.
- Once a step has been logged against a tube, its number is never handed to another.
The naming guide explains what makes a good ID.
Common questions
- Can I register many samples at once?
- On every plan you register one at a time, one tap each. On Pro and Team you can also import samples from a CSV file.
- Is there a limit on samples?
- No. Samples are unlimited on every plan, Free included.
- Can I change a sample’s ID?
- You can rename an ID, but we advise against it. The ID is how everything else points at the sample.
